Lakshmi Sreeram (Ramakrishnan) is an Indian Classical vocalist in both Carnatic and Hindustani traditions. She has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Mumbai.
She has performed to critical acclaim in several prestigious venues and has simultaneously pursued teaching, writing, research and scholarly work.
She has been Guest Faculty at the prestigious IIT Madras. She put together two successful online courses, one each on Carnatic Music and Hindustani Music for the National Project for Technology Enhanced Learning, NPTEL under their MOOC program – Massive Open Online Course.
She is a freelance writer, contributing commissioned articles to Frontline, The Hindu and also online media such as Firstpost, and News 9.
Lakshmi trained for several years in the dance form of Bharatanatyam. Though not actively engaged in dancing for many years now, she continues to follow the world of dance as an artist and academic.
She was awarded a Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship, 2019-2020.
She is currently Associate Professor at Ahmedabad University in the Performing and Visual Arts division of its School of Arts and Sciences.
